How trains can run energy-efficiently and on time thanks to digitization
At the latest since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, energy saving has been on everyone’s lips. In view of climate change, it was more than a good idea even before then. Rising energy costs are finally making it a business necessity. At DB Netz, we have therefore already been offering our customers the train running assistance (ZLR) since July 2018. This works like a small navigation system on the locomotive and gives train drivers recommendations for the optimum speed – for the most energy-saving and punctual journey possible. The presentation highlights how this works, what our monitoring for it looks like, and what we have learned in recent years.
